The Wintergreen Volunteer Fire Department proudly protects the Wintergreen Resort and surrounding communities located in Nelson and Augusta counties. We operate out of two stations that protect both residential and commercial properties. Our department is a combination paid/volunteer department with an ISO 6/9 rating. Operating from two stations we provide fire protection, emergency medical services and entry level hazardous material operations. The department has eight full time and seven part-time paid professionals on staff supported by thirty volunteer professionals, for a total of 47 personnel.
