CVEC Power Outage – Owners will soon be receiving notice about a community wide power outage planned during the overnight hours on August 4 and again on August 11. CVEC is upgrading equipment and the outage is scheduled overnight to minimize negative impacts on customers. Look for details in the mail.
Bears – Previous updates focused a lot on bears and ways to avoid bears getting into unlocked cars, homes, etc. Police reports from last week suggest a gang of racoons have either learned similar behavior or joined forces with our bear population. Please lock cars and homes, secure trash and remove any potential food sources. We need to keep ALL of our wild animal friends wild.
Wintergreen Founders Overlook – Vehicle access to the overlook will be restricted next week (weather permitting). We are replacing the culvert pipe at the entry point and widening this area to allow for much easier access in and out. This repair is long overdue and should greatly reduce the number cars falling into the ditch on the uphill side. The closure could last 3-4 days.
Roads – Surface treatment of our secondary roads is complete for this year. Over the next few weeks, we will remove any loose gravel on the newly treated roads. Asphalt overlay on Wintergreen Drive is still a few weeks away. Once we have a firm date, we will pass this along.
Tuckahoe Clubhouse – Tuckahoe is open for groups to use with restrictions. If you have an interest in holding an event at Tuckahoe, please contact WPOA for details. Individuals and groups wanting to use the facility need to present operating plans to WPOA that address the concerns and comply with the requirements outlined in Phase 3.
Swimming Pools – The Rodes Farm and Chestnut Springs Pools are open with restrictions in place that satisfy the Phase 3 requirements. Owners wanting to use these facilities are encouraged to read the pool operating plan posted on the WPOA website along with frequently asked questions (FAQ’s). We are reviewing our pool operating plan and making tweaks based on feedback, demand, use trends, etc. Most owners have shared support with our efforts and should be happy with the slight adjustments going into effect today, Friday July 10th. These tweaks include:
- We are going to allow 3 accompanied guests per household.
- Owners can reserve an additional swim session up to 7 days in advance at each pool.
- Owners that would like to swim more often are encouraged to stop by a pool to see if we have openings during the day.
A couple of reminders:
- We are limiting reservations to try and give everyone who is eligible to swim, a chance of getting some pool time. To make a reservation please stop by the pool or call. Chestnut Springs (434) 325-2200 ext 9303 or Rodes Farm (434) 818-0814.
- Full time owners are encouraged to swim during the week and avoid the weekends when part time owners are here.
- Owners must accompany guests. Unaccompanied guests are not permitted to use the pool.
- Failure to show up for your reserved pool session impacts others. Please contact the pool and cancel your reservation so we can try and accommodate another owner.
- The Commonwealth requires masks to be worn indoors, when in public. Our pool bathrooms are indoors and public…
95+% of our owners are taking the pool restrictions OK. Most owners understand the need to be flexible and that we are re-evaluating the operation weekly. None of us like the current situation. The decision to open a community pool and the agony associated is being felt by communities across the country. Older News Worth Repeating:
Owners are reminded that the resort golf courses are now open and play is increasing. Walking or bike riding on cart paths is prohibited during golf operating hours (typically 8am-6pm). Non golf use of these paths disrupts play and can pose a serious risk from being hit by a golf ball.
The resort continues a gradual re-opening with recreation and dining opportunities available. Owners are encouraged to visit www.wintergreenresort.com for details. Club members are reminded to please bring your member pass when visiting resort amenities.

More and more owners and guests are out and about. Please observe the speed limits and drive with care.
The tennis court at Rodes Farm is currently open for Tennis and Pickleball. Players are reminded that COVID 19 remains a serious health risk. Please adhere to the rules posted and use the sign-up sheets (located in the pavilion) to help facilitate play.
Both community playgrounds are open. Parents are reminded of the serious risks associated with COVID 19. Please follow the rules posted at both locations and take extra precautions.
Fishing – lakes and ponds within our community are private. To help identify you as an owner, please contact WPOA to request a pass. We can send one via mail or leave it for you to pick-up. Vehicle access is restricted, owners need to park on the street and walk in.
Dog Walking – The WPOA Covenants require all dogs to be on a leash or “under the control of a responsible person and obedient to that person’s command at any time they are permitted outside…”. The use of words “control” and “obedient” in the rules suggests a dog off leash should respond immediately and avoid an unwelcomed encounter with another owner or their animal.
