WPOA’s Rodes Farm, Pool, Pavilion & Park has one racket sports court, serving as either one tennis court or two pickleball courts. The court is adjacent to the swimming pool with restrooms and there are benches and picnic tables nearby.  The court does not have lights.

The tennis court has a permanent corded net, the pickleball sections utilize two portable nets. The pickleball nets should be moved to the side of the court and not disassembled when playing tennis.

The Rodes Farm Court is shared equally among approximately 3,700 WPOA member households. Flexibility is required to make the shared use as practical as possible since everyone has equal access to the court.

Typical of most municipal courts, WPOA follows a “first come, first served” format for tennis and “open play” for pickleball with a slight adjustment since the association owns only one tennis-pickleball court. By establishing set days and times for each activity, shared court use problems can be minimized.

The court is open for Wintergreen property owners and guests to use during daylight hours, seven days a week, based on availability, type, and style of play as described in the Day/Time Table above.

Questions? Call WPOA at 434-325-8530.

Tennis - First Come, First Served: To facilitate shared access players must limit their total play time to one hour if others are waiting for the tennis court.

Pickleball - Open Play: Pickleball players are required to follow the “open play” rules that are common among municipal courts. Pickleball players waiting to play rotate in after each game is complete, and players will take turns utilizing both pickleball courts, intermingling among all players. Games will be played to 11 but must win by two. If there are more than 8 people waiting to play, games will be played to 9, win by 2 but the total score shall not exceed 11.

Note: If there are four players that prefer to play together, all four will go to the end of the line. However, if other players need additional players to fill their court they must fill in their court so they get an opportunity to play; the four who prefer to play together will need to wait till all others rotate on and off in sequence.

Vacant court: If no one is playing on the court when players arrive they may play either tennis or pickleball. If others arrive wishing to play the other sport, the sport indicated in the Day/Time Table here immediately takes precedence.  If the newly arriving players are playing the same sport the first person taking the court is playing then the type of play rules shall be in effect–First Come, First Served for tennis with a one-hour limit, or Open Play for pickleball.

Wintergreen Resort has an active racket sports program with nationally-recognized instructors and extensive facilities on the mountain and in the valley. The resort’s Wintergreen Club offers a special Aquatics & Fitness + Racquet Sports Membership.
