Lauren Springs/Fortunes Ridge Loop Hike can be accessed from Wintergreen Resort’s parking lot F. This hike will send you through an array of forest types, including mountain laurel thickets, yellow birch, hemlock remains, and oak hickory forest.
Where the trail meets up with the Pond Hollow Access Trail, follow the trail to Pond Hollow Trail and head south to the Fortunes Ridge Trail.
Fortunes Ridge Trail follows a cold mountain stream over cascading rock formations. After dropping steeply, a picturesque waterfall emerges about halfway on the trail. The trail passes through laurel thickets nearby and high on the mountain ridge above that bloom pink in June. Note the dramatic changes in forest types along the trail.
