The October 9 a strict county-wide ban on outdoor fires in Nelson County as been lifted as of October 21.

As a result of exceptionally dry conditions, the ban adopted by the Nelson County Board of Supervisors was very restrictive, Wintergreen Fire & Rescue Chief Curtis Sheets announced via Alert Wintergreen.

The ban included properties within Wintergreen. Property owners were responsible for making sure guests are aware of this ban. Any outdoor fires other than a propane fire were subject to the now lifed ban. A violation could have resulted in a Class 2 misdemeanor charge.
