The Blackrock Plunge Trail is one of the shortest trails on the mountain (it is an access trail to the Blackrock and Brimstone trails). The Blackrock Plunge is an excellent introduction to the beauty and natural history of the area. The hikers will find a steep climb around rock formations that were created millions of years ago (called pedlar gneiss). The Plunge provides an incredible overlook and family picture spot at both the top (at Blackrock Park) and the bottom of the trail.

The trail is well maintained, with ropes and stairs for some parts as well as fun rock scrambles.

Use extra caution in winter. Not recommended during wet conditions because of potentially slippery rocks.

(Not to be confused with the snow tubing of the same name at Wintergreen Resort.)
