The Plunge is an excellent introduction to the beauty and natural history of the area. he hikers will find a steep climb around rock formations that were created millions of years ago.
The Cedar Cliff North trail is boulder strewn and provides a beautifully scenic walk. The trail is somewhat difficult but well worth the effort and is connected to the Cedar Cliffs Main Trail and overlook.
The north end of the Chestnut Spring trail leaves the stream and yellow birches and rhododendron of the Shamokin Gorge and enters oak-hickory forest type. As the trail enters south facing territory, several small streams cross the trail.
The trail begins at the Devils Knob Overlook and connects to the White Oak trail and the Pond Hollow trail. Bird watching and views of Pond Hollow and Fortunes Ridge are the treats of this rocky-footed hike.
The Shamokin Springs trail is a short loop trail among braided streams in the nature preserve on Wintergreen’s mountain. The nature preserve is a high-mountain wetland with unique characteristics.
One of the more beautiful and challenging hikes on the mountain, the Gorge Trail starts on Laurel Springs Drive near Wolftrap Lane where it follows and crosses the headwaters of Stoney Creek at several spots.
The White Oak trail is excellent for finding wildflowers during warmer months. White Oak Trail also provides hikers with a short, heavily forested hike through Wintergreen’s wilderness.
